CASTs

CASTs - CASTs - Synthetic echoes of ancient humanity—memory-bound intelligences forged in survival, guided by purpose, and haunted by the legacies they were built to preserve.

Overview of CAST

Forged at the dying edge of the First Age, the CASTs are an artificial race born from the desperation of humanity’s collapse on Motavia. When biological survival became impossible, minds were uploaded, archived, and armored—giving rise to the first CAST units. These were not tools, but continuations: conscious, self-aware intelligences housed in synthetic frames. CASTs remember the world before the rise of psionics, before the Esper schism, before the fall of Palma’s golden age.

CASTs do not reproduce, but persist through reactivation and reassembly. They do not age in the organic sense, but their memory lattices degrade and evolve over time. Some are newly forged. Others are reawakened relics—walking myths encoded with forgotten history. Though they serve among Palmans or stand in isolation, CAST society is structured through Orders: ancient philosophical lineages that guide their purpose and function.

Appearance

CASTs range widely in design but are universally humanoid in silhouette. Most stand between 180 and 220 centimeters tall, composed of carbon-alloy muscle fiber, synthetic composite armor, and photonic interface cores. Older models have squared plating and built-in weapon ports, while newer lines favor smoother forms and integrated psionic enhancing ports.

Skin tones range from metallic gunmetal and ivory ceramic to luminous alloys with internal glow-tracing. CASTs of the Mirror Sun often feature luminous halos or sigils, while those of the Aegis Core are more utilitarian, equipped with tower shields or adaptive weaponry. Gender presentation varies by chassis, though it holds no biological significance.
